Should Nigerian Artists Stop Shooting Videos in South Africa in Response to Xenophobic attacks?

Xenophobic attacks have been rampant in some parts of South Africa for the past month. According to CNN, these attacks originated from verbal spews from the Zulu King stating that foreigners should leave South Africa because they are taking over jobs from South African citizens. The United Nations claims that the attacks started during a labor dispute between a foreign worker and a South African born worker.

The crux of the matter is that some South Africans are afraid that foreigners are going to take over their jobs, land and country and they feel a need to physically attack, in some cases kill, these foreigners including Nigerians who own businesses and work in South Africa, in order to quench their Xenophobia.

With regards to music, every BIG Nigerian artist from P Square to Davido, has flown to South Africa to shoot at least one of their music videos. Back in 2007 shooting your video in South Africa kind of made videos look more attractive because of the scenery and the high quality of equipment used to capture visuals. Today the story is different, because many of our Nigerian video directors are able to make use of Nigeria’s beauty and capture it on video in a very attractive manner.

These days, most Nigerian music videos are shot in Nigeria. However, some artist continue to travel to South Africa to shoot some of their videos, but instead of using the South African directors like they used to, they are now allowing Nigerian, seasoned directors such as Clarence Peters and Sesan handle the directing of the videos.

Listed below are some very good videos shot, directed and edited in South Africa for TOP Nigerian Artists who paid top dollar from their hard earned money. That is, money earned in Nigeria and pumped into the South African economy. Most of these videos were shot by our good friend God Father, a South African native, who hired a South African technical crew along with South African characters that featured in the videos.

Kate Upton Speaks Out About Last Year’s Nude Photo Leak

Last year, Kate Upton was among several female celebrities whose privacy was violated when hackers leaked nude photos taken on her personal phones. The leak, called the Fappening, revealed intimate photos from a number of celebrities, including Gabrielle Union, Jennifer Lawrence, Cara Delevingne, Rihanna and more. It was incredibly invasive and such a big issue that the FBI got involved in tracking down the hackers.
Since the big leak last summer, Kate Upton has finally come out to share her thoughts on the matter with the Evening Standard. “It was very difficult,” she said. “It’s an invasion of my privacy and it’s not OK. It’s illegal. People don’t have a right to look at those photos or to judge them.”
Absolutely. This isn’t the first time images of Upton have been splashed all over the internet without her permission. Earlier this month in an interview with Vogue UK, Upton admitted that a video Terry Richardson uploaded of her doing the cat daddy in a tiny bikini was done so without her knowledge or permission. “That was disrespectful, you could have told me!” she told the notoriously creepy shutterbug after the video went live.

Donatella Versace Claps Back at Giorgio Armani’s Comments about Her Late Brother

Plenty of people were offended by Giorgio Armani’s Sunday Times interview this weekend, in which he outlined his personal guidelines for how gay men should dress, but it wasn’t those homophobic and insensitive remarks that have Donatella Versace seeing red.

During the interview, Armani talked about his more conservative approach to fashion, attempting to illustrate this with an alleged quote from the late Gianni Versace. According to Armani, Versace “was looking at the models, and he said to me, ‘I dress sluts. You dress church ladies.’”

Seems like a pretty innocuous comment between fellow designers. Except Donatella Versace was not at all amused and she says that Armani made up the exchange entirely. “I find it extremely rude and tasteless that Mr. Armani has once again put words into my brother’s mouth, especially because he is sadly no longer with us to reply,” she said. “This is the second time he claims this was said. The first was immediately after his death, and he apologized to me. When my brother spoke about fashion, the only word that ever came from his mouth was glamour. What should be said about my brother is: May Gianni Versace rest in peace.”
